Cool news
Just found out yesterday that my department manager is a Wiccan. I'd suspected as much for a while but didn't want to jump to conclusions. (He's been dropping subtle hints for some time now. I mean REALLY subtle.) Considering where we live, you can't blame either one of us. We're living in the buckle of the bible belt, surrounded by psycho-christians. You have to be careful. Now don't misunderstand me here, I'm a born-again christian myself but I don't go around proclaiming that God is going to send someone to Hell just for reading Harry Potter or being gay. Needless to say, I don't get along with a lot of the older church-goers. Most of the ones my age are fairly open-minded and reasonable, unfortunately the psychos have them scared quiet. They're always supportive until there's someone else that might condemn them around. *grins wryly* You wouldn't believe the arguments I've gotten into and the people I've weirded out. One of the guys I work with walked off without saying a word to me when I told him I no longer supported Bush because he was against homosexual marriage. Hell, once I even came dangerously close to an ass-whooping. Or at least a shunning. All I did was say that Jesus wasn't white. Well, dammit he wasn't! Tan but not white. Oi. You never heard an aisle full of people get sooo quiet so fast. Good thing they were my friends and co-workers or I'd have probably been in real trouble. Anyway, kudos to my D.M. for staying true to yourself. ^_^v
